This page explains what fitvilo.com collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask FitVilo to do about it. Effective and last updated: 2026-05-19.

Who FitVilo is

FitVilo is a small editorial team that publishes practical home fitness and active living guides at fitvilo.com. Articles are researched, written, and reviewed by FitVilo Editorial. There is no parent company, no investor influence, and no separate brand structure behind the site.

For any privacy question, the working address is hello@fitvilo.com.

What FitVilo collects automatically

When you visit fitvilo.com, your browser and the hosting layer record a small set of technical information:

  • IP address
  • browser type and version
  • device type (desktop, tablet, phone) and operating system
  • referring URL (the link that brought you here, if any)
  • pages you opened on fitvilo.com and time spent on each
  • approximate location inferred from your IP (city or region, not street address)

This information is used for security (filtering automated abuse), for analytics (understanding which topics readers care about), and for legal compliance (responding to legitimate requests from authorities when required by law).

What FitVilo collects from you directly

If you write to hello@fitvilo.com, the email and anything you choose to include in it (your name in the From field, the message body, any attachments) become part of correspondence FitVilo keeps so the team can reply, correct an article, or follow up.

There is no other place on the site that asks for personal information.

What FitVilo does not do

To be explicit:

  • there are no user accounts on fitvilo.com
  • there is no checkout, no shopping cart, no commerce of any kind on the site
  • there is no newsletter, no email list signup, and no marketing email program
  • FitVilo does not sell, rent, or trade personal information to anyone

If a future change introduces any of the above, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.

How collected data is used

Three uses, all tied to running an editorial website:

  • editorial decisions, in aggregate: which topics readers spend time on, which guides need updating, which articles people leave quickly
  • security: rate-limiting abusive traffic, blocking known bad IPs, protecting against bot-driven attacks on the hosting layer
  • legal compliance: responding to lawful requests from authorities, where FitVilo is required by applicable law to respond

FitVilo does not run profiles on individual readers, does not build retargeting audiences, and does not enrich your visit with data from external sources.

Third-party services that may collect data through FitVilo

Three external services touch your visit, and only one is active today.

Cloudflare (active today). FitVilo is hosted behind Cloudflare for content delivery and basic security. Cloudflare records request data (IP, headers, requested URL) for fraud and abuse prevention. Cloudflare Web Analytics, where used, is cookieless and does not collect personal data on its own. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Google AdSense (pending; activates after AdSense submission approval). When AdSense is active, it places cookies and uses identifiers to serve display ads, measure ad performance, and, where you have consented or where local law allows, personalize ads based on your browsing behavior on FitVilo and other sites. You can review and adjust your Google ad personalization settings at https://adssettings.google.com/. Google’s privacy and terms are at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Analytics 4 (not active today; may activate after AdSense approval as a secondary measurement tool). When GA4 is active, it uses cookies to record aggregate site usage. IP addresses are anonymized in the GA4 default configuration, and FitVilo sets retention to 14 months rather than the 26-month default.

When the active set changes, this page is updated to reflect the change before the new service starts receiving data.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a site, or a third-party service running on a site, stores on your device to remember information between page loads. The full list of cookie names, providers, durations, and purposes is on the Cookie Policy page.

Outside the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and California, most ad and analytics cookies operate by default per local norms. Inside those jurisdictions, the consent prompt that Google AdSense delivers controls whether ad personalization cookies are set. You can decline at the prompt or change your choice later via the same prompt.

Your rights under GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding personal data FitVilo holds about you:

  • right of access (to know what data is held)
  • right to rectification (to correct inaccurate data)
  • right to erasure (to ask FitVilo to delete data)
  • right to restrict processing (to limit how data is used)
  • right to data portability (to receive the data in a portable format)
  • right to object (to processing for direct marketing or based on legitimate interests)
  • right to opt out of personalized advertising (via the AdSense consent prompt, or via https://adssettings.google.com/)
  • right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these, write to hello@fitvilo.com from the email address associated with the data, with a short description of the request. FitVilo responds within 30 days, sooner where the request is simple.

Your rights under CCPA (California)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • right to know what personal information FitVilo collects about you
  • right to delete personal information FitVilo holds, subject to legal exceptions
  • right to opt out of any “sale” of personal information
  • right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

FitVilo does not sell personal information in any form recognized by CCPA. There is nothing to opt out of on this front; the right remains available regardless.

To make a CCPA request, write to hello@fitvilo.com with a short description of the request and enough information to confirm you are the person the data concerns.

Children’s privacy

fitvilo.com is intended for adults, generally readers 18 and older who are setting up or running a home workout space. FitVilo does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. Under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), if a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information to FitVilo, contact hello@fitvilo.com and the information will be removed promptly.

Data retention and where data is processed

  • server logs (including IP addresses): approximately 90 days, then purged
  • analytics data, when active: GA4 retention set to 14 months
  • email correspondence: retained as long as useful for reply, correction, or follow-up; deleted on request
  • AdSense and similar advertising data: governed by Google’s policies, not by FitVilo

Data may be processed in the United States by Cloudflare, Google, and the email provider FitVilo uses. Where applicable, transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the United States rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.

Jurisdiction

This policy is interpreted under generally accepted principles of internet content and data protection law. If a specific jurisdiction becomes required for a future legal matter, FitVilo will clarify in a separate notice or by direct response.

Changes to this policy

FitVilo updates this policy as practices change. The “updated” date at the top reflects the current version. When a change is material (a new service starts collecting data, a new category of data is collected), it is noted plainly on this page rather than slipped in.
